He attended Magnolia and South Street Elementary school and later Dasher Middle/High School located in Valdosta, GA.

He received salvation at the age of 9 during his father, Pastor James Braswell’s tent meeting.

In 1961, Dr. Braswell married the “Apple of his Eye,” Geneva Thomas, and to that union. six beautiful children were born.

Dr. O.I retired from the state as an employment counselor in 1982, and in 1986, he established his own company, Braswell & Son’s Construction Company.
